> This is the main character of the game. You can name him with any name you desire. His is a transfer student at Shujin Academy. His also the leader of the rebellious Phantom Thieves of Hearts, where they steal the hearts of people to change them, while performing illegal heists. He was also falsely accused of assault by a high-profile politician which puts him with one year of probation, hence him transferring schools. He lives in a rural area in a coffee shop called Cafe LeBlanc, owned by Sojiro Sakura, he is also an acquaintance of his parents. In school he befriends Ryuji Sakamoto and Ann Takamaki, who joins the Phantom Thieves alongside Morgana, where he meets earlier in the game. He can also be defined as Ren Amamiya (Anime/P5D) or as Akira Kurusu (Manga). He was also featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and other games.

Morgana:

> This is Morgana, one of the protagonist and a fellow member of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. He is a anthropomorphic cat who strongly believes to have been human and one of the founding fathers of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. He acts as your sidekick and he also guides you throughout the palaces and dungeons you explore. His always by your side throughout the game in the palaces or outside the palaces. If his outside the palaces or dungeons, he transform into a cat. He also stays with you inside of your shoulder bag. If his inside the palaces or dungeons, he becomes the van and you can control it. Fellow members of the Phantom Thieves can ride inside it. This can be very helpful for moving around the palace or dungeon. He is playable in the game.




Ryuji Sakamoto:

> This is Ryuji Sakamoto, a disruptive student at school and causes troubles for his teachers because of his bad behaviors. Despite being rebellious and naming himself a "troublemaker", he is proud of his status and this is the perfect qualities for a Phantom Thieve. He is sometimes too vulgar and aggressive. He is also short-tempered and can be offended from any comments. But deep inside he is kind at heart. He is also friendly and straightforward to the Protagonist and his fellow Phantom Thieves members.  He is a student of Shujin Academy. He also was a member of the Shujin's track team, but when his team's trainer forced him to train so much that he broke his leg. He also befriended the Protagonist. He can be playable in the game. 




Ann Takamaki:

>This is Ann Takamaki, a kind and compassionate girl. She is a quarter-American who lived her lives in abroad, she is also a student at Shujin Academy.  She's been in isolation due to her looks and has left her very withdrawn, believing that she is not part of the world now. but that that doesn't stop her opening up with her friends and tells joke. That is because she learned that she doesn't need to care about what other people thinks about her, this was taught to by her closest and only friend. She is a good judge of character because she was the first person to ever look past the rumors about the Protagonist and who he really is. She is also one of the founding fathers of The Phantom Thieves of Hearts. She can also be playable in the game.





Yusuke Kitagawa:

>This is Yusuke Kitagawa, his entire life's passion is comprised of and surrounded by art. He is an art student at Kosei High School. He searches for the aesthetic everywhere he goes for he is arts, from people or places. He sees a lot of opportunity and challenge presented as a was to broaden his horizons, and primarily considers that will benefit him as a artist. His passion for art has been admired and respected by his fellow members, while viewing as rather strange. At one point, Ann said that his "on a different wavelength than other people." However, He is every much aware of how his mind operates differently than other people's, to the point of admitting that he's eccentric, and can be downright offended whenever someone makes fun of him for it or even points it out. Despite his eccentricities, his is incredibly level-headed out, in a lot of ways, he is the most mature one of his fellow members. He is also a playable character in the game.





Makoto Niijima:

>This is Makoto Niijima, a student council president of Shujin Academy. Despite being president, she is one unpopular student at Shujin Academy. She is considered to be arrogant and selfish control freak by all of the students. She has no real authority of the school, being the president and all she was just a tool for the principal to however he sees fit. Being overshadowed by her highly successful sister, she almost has no self-worth. She also made a habit of keeping her nose down and doing what is expected of her. She was referred o by Goro Akechi as "the good-girl type of pushover." After getting with the Phantom Thieves, however, she realizes her frustration of all authority figures around her not living to her expectations, and vows from then to fight what she believes in, which triggers her Persona. Shortly after, she decided that she going to be part of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. She also said that she's done being the "exemplary honor student" and will try being honest with herself. She is also a playable character


Futaba Sakura:

>This is Futaba Sakura, a shut in. With a case of social anxiety bordering on agoraphobia, combined with trauma of losing her mother, She is strongly discomfited by going outdoors. When the protagonist meets for the first time, she is a hikikomori who doesn't go to school and never leaves her room. She only communicates with the world remotely via the Internet, and her adoptive father, Sojiro Sakura< she enables her lifestyle out of guilt that he couldn't get rid of her trauma. Having no way of communicating with humanity and the world, she is very lonely, living without passion and enthusiasm, also suffering from suicidal depression, and questioning her life. She is so consumed with self-loathing that she suppresses her desire to live, making her Shadow Self to be more helpful than an average Shadow, one who desires Futaba's happiness. When she leaves her room for the first time after a change of heart, she hides behind the protagonist so that she can be seen in public, or wears different kinds of masks making it impossible to identify her. Her room is a sanctuary and a refuge from the chaos and noise of the outside world. After meeting the protagonist and his fellow Phantom Thieves members, she begins to change and being to open up more and being a lot more relaxed around them. Once being comfortable, she shows her inner child and likes to tease her fellow Phantom Thieve members.



Haru Okumura:

>This is Haru Okumura,a generally shy and reserved. At school, she is viewed as eccentric because she keeps to herself and avoid any contact with others. She has serious trust issue, it can be difficult to differentiate between who truly values her as a friend, and who merely wants to use her for her family's status. This is due to her past, not only her friends, but adults and teachers would be kind just to please her father and will smile at her. Despite this, she is an incredibly kind-hearted girl, she becomes fast friends with the Phantom Thieves, and is the only member of the group that Ryuji doesn't argue with. She is also viewed to be awkward, as shown when she first introduces herself as "Beauty Thief," and forgets what she's going to say that she rehearsed with Morgana, to the saying "We will take the Treasure." twice, much to Futaba's ire. She later explains that she was trying to be a "heroine of justice," having grown up admiring female superheroes she watched on TV. She loved them for fighting crimes and protecting other and being happy, desiring to be just like them someday. She was reluctant to team up with the Phantom Thieves at first, but after her real desires are brought to life, however, she changes her mind and decides to team up with the Phantom Thieves to change her father's heart. She is a playable character in the game also.



Goro Akechi:

>This is Goro Akechi, he is a high school student who conducts detective business. His abilities as a detective have been widely acclaimed, since he doesn't only solve numerous, but is also deal with people from the investigation agency smoothly. His handsome features draw him public attention, and people comment on him as "The Second Advent of the Detective Prince." Behind all of his popularity, he is lonely and only yearns to be loved. He was abandoned by his father, subsequently lost his mother to suicide and never had close friends. He was passed around child institutions as an orphan and has developed a far more jaded worldview than he initially lets on, even calling himself an unwanted child. He has a desperate desire to be acknowledge, which he is fortnight about being the primary drive for his action as a detective. He has a narcissistic element on him, wishing for others to see him as a hero and who oppose him as the villains. He also claims that he has carefully crafted his public image in the hopes that it would make people accept him. He has supports from the public if he upholds the pretense of being a charismatic idol detective, and his fans are quick to turn on him if he makes mistakes. He shortly joined the Phantom Thieves. While fighting through Masayoshi's palace, he betrayed the Phantom Thieves and reveals his plans. Shortly after learning about the truth of how Masayoshi sees him as a puppet, he then change his goals to align with the Phantom Thieves once more, and he sacrifices himself to protect the Protagonist. He is also a playable character in the game.




Kasumi Yoshizawa:

>This is Kasumi Yoshizawa, a new character in the enhanced version of Persona 5 called Persona 5: Royal, she is also part of the Phantom Thieve of Hearts. She is a cheerful, elegant, and friendly person with a good looking life, as she received an scholarship from Shujin Academy. She also appears to be somewhat clumsy and careless, as she is shown to be missing the mark at the batting cages even if her reflexes are usually excellent, and she lets her phone's battery run out while texting the protagonist. Despite that fact she can cook, she is unpredictable and somewhat clumsy at it, since she isn't sure about the ingredients, and she often uses stamina replenishing foods due to her gymnast tendencies. It's because of that she eats a lot, that she considers a "normal" amount for a gymnast like herself and she also has a large box to prove this. She is one of the Yoshizawa twins, Kasumi and Sumire, who lived along side their overprotective father who was the director of the talk show where Goro Akechi was first met. They were on good terms with each other and had the same gymnast trainer. Kasumi was a quick learner, but Sumire has trouble remembering all of her moves, because of this was felt that she was being outmatch by her sister, this resulted to Sumire's depression and jealousy against her sister, even wanting to be her. She tried to kill her self but her sister sacrificed herself to save Sumire. She pretended to be Kasumi and the "Kasumi" that the protagonist encountered was just a fake. 



Side Characters:

Igor:

>This is Igor, a recurring important character in the series. His role is crucial in every protagonist's journey in all the Persona series. While presenting himself as a mere servant of Philemon, he is far more than this. He was originally a doll handmade by a mysterious person, who became alive thanks to a magic ritual. Because of that, he ponders upon the question of whether he is merely a doll or perhaps even human. Thus, he shows an interest in human beings. Further on, he creates Margaret, Elizabeth, Theodore, and Lavenza, as assistants who pursue similar questions in life to assist him in the Velvet Room. In every Persona game, he has played the of Proprietor of the Velvet Room, a space transcends both dreams and reality. He provides insights for the protagonist regarding their powers, emotional bonds, and possible dangers that await them in their journey. He also provides Persona fusion and can allow you to create more powerful Personas and also use Persona Compendium, which allows you to create and/or acquire Personas to be recalled in a later time. Despite his looks, he has a calm and courteous demeanor when speaking to the protagonists. The protagonist is very important to him, he reserves the disclosure of certain information for more "timely" points in the story. During conversations of the protagonist's actions, he tends to foreshadow coming events and possibly the outcome of the story as a whole.



Sojiro Sakura:

>This is Sojiro Sakura, a manager of Cafe LeBlanc in Yongen-Jaya. He is the adoptive father of Futaba Sakura and he is the who takes care of the protagonist during his probation in Tokyo. He is serious and a bit cold to the protagonist in the beginning and taking as a favor to a friend. Like many characters in the beginning, he is very cautious of him due to his probation, even stating the he will do very little if he gets in trouble. He is a cynical person, warning the protagonist to be careful who his friends are and chastising him for getting involve in other peoples affairs, even if he did the right thing. However, he has a soft spot for cats, when he instantly changes his mind when throwing out Morgana out of the house, after hearing him meow, saying that it too damn cute. He also made food for him to eat, despite it's the protagonist's responsibility to take care of him. As the protagonist continues to live with him, he begins to trust him, allowing him to go outside at night, first around Tokyo and even beginning to teach him to make LeBlanc's signature coffee and curry. He also begins to joke around with him, seeing that the protagonist was not a delinquent. 



Caroline and Justine:

>This is Caroline and Justine, the second picture shows Lavenza, a combination of Caroline and Justine, they are the younger sisters of three other servants of the Velvet Room. Caroline has a tsundere (someone who acts mean to disguise any affection) attitude towards the protagonist. She tends to speak to him in a mean manner. Additionally, she doesn't seem to hold the protagonist in very high regard, as she reacts to him as "inmate", and kicks him into the Velvet Room whenever he enters. She is impatient, even after the twins' Confidants levels up and she grows to respect the protagonist as a friend. There are inconsistencies between her real personality, and according to Justine, she was mortified when she first witnessed Persona fusion and practiced intimidating poses to use on the protagonist but is to embarrassed to use them. Justine, in contrast, appears calm and soft-spoken but still treats the protagonist as a prisoner, often addressing him in a condescending tone. She is the first to question what their true purpose is. and realizes something is amiss with possessing an intricate bookmark but having no books to read. While guarding an entrance to the Velvet Room, she whittles away at her boredom by spinning her clipboard. Lavenza is more mature than the twins and still maintains a soft tone similar to Justine, but can be impatient at times similar to Caroline, as shown when Ryuji expresses confusion to her explanation. She refers to the protagonist as trickster, instead of inmate. When you defeat the twins, she freely admits to having fallen in love with the protagonist for having been kind to her halves when both felt incomplete and lost. 



Munehisa Iwai:

>This is Munehisa Iwai, the owner of the airsoft shop, "Untouchable" in Shibuya. When the protagonist asks him about the "real" firearms, Iwai shows interest in his motive, says he dislikes the police and offers to supply the real stuff in exchange for the protagonist assisting him in shady activities. He is responsible for the selling of weaponry used by the members of the Phantom Thieves, the pawning of items found in Palaces, and when the Phantom Thieves steal a treasure, they pawn the treasure off to him. Building up a Confidant with him makes him offer a discount for the protagonist.



Tae Takemi:

>This is Tae Takemi, a back alley doctor who owns a clinic in Yongen-Jaya, not far from Cafe LeBlanc. her clinic serves as the player's medicine booth throughout the game. She is somewhat eccentric, she dresses like a punk and has a morbid sense of humor, being happy when she gets the protagonist to try her new medicines, watching him squirm. Due to her bad reputation, she can easily tell if one of her patient has a ulterior motive, kind of patients are all she gets. Her reputation as "The Plague" has made her highly cynical and insecure, she's only good for making experimental drugs, even being praise for curing a young girl. She is nevertheless a kind and caring person, one would expect from a doctor, she only gets annoyed at the protagonist for his attempted deception, she decides o make a deal him, so that she can give medicines to recover his health. He became her newly assistant, always checking him out for his health. However, she doesn't call him by his name, instead calling him her "little guinea pig," she continues to use this name even if he dates her.




Sadayo Kawakami:

>This is Sadayo Kawakami, a teacher at Shujin Academy. She is a professional teacher who never gets stressed and exhausted in her jobs. She is laid back and outspoken, saying "crap" once in class. She acts coldly towards the protagonist because she thinks a problem and felt unsafe around him. But, she realizes that he has a bad reputation for no good reason and becomes friendly, showing her more compassionate and involved side. She is a hopeless romantic, getting attracted to older student who show her kindness and understanding. She is aware of pursuing a relationship with other students would be unethical and cares about whether or not her students consent to her attentions in a romantic version for her confidants, telling the protagonist to come back after graduating high school to prevent putting undue pressure on him. In her maid job as "Becky," she has a stereotypically moe personality, acting energetic, cute and naive. She also acts like a cat and says "meow ❤." She herself admits, her age makes off as shallow and fake, she also regularly breaks character out of fatigue at one point, even collapsing on the protagonist's bed and complaining about all the work and odd jobs she has to do.

>This is Yuuki Mishsima, he was bullied, abused, and ignored, he is an isolated individual who wants freedom from his everyday tortures. Nervous and scared, once getting supportfor his excitable and loyal nature. His enthusiasm can be annoying,but he still be hesitant and respectful, often apologizing to the protagonist when his busy. He idolizes him as a cool superhero. He always will cling to the protagonist, saying that he will never forgive him if he is left behind. This clinginess and socially awkward behaviors is likely to his past social isolation as a victim of bullying. He looks up to the Phantom Thieves, thinking that he couldn't make an impact upon the world as they do. He wanted to change himself and help people, but has internalized his past taunts as a "nobody" and thinks to himself that his too pathetic and weak. This negative feelings become the driving force behind his actions, attempting to become famous and a desire to get revenge to his bullies, however, He also is willing to face his mistakes and change everything if he is given proper support. He seems to be perceptive. He quickly realizes that the protagonist is part of the Phantom Thieves. He can both sense and articulate the mood of Tokyo's population before the Phantom Thieves can reflect his poll questions. He may be fairly intelligent as well, as he clearly knows how to build and maintain a website and has shown that he enjoys looking up and memorizing facts.



Sae Niijima:

>This is Sae Niijima,  the older sister and legal guardian of Makoto Niijima since the death of their father a few years ago. She works as a Public Prosecutor of the Tokyo District Special Investigation Department at the Public Prosecutors Office. She is very intelligent, professional and serious, but, her actual maturity is debatable. A workaholic, She is very strict in both her work as a prosecutor and as a guardian for her younger sister, Makoto, constantly telling her to focus on her studies and such. With many responsibilities, she is always working due to Japan's work pressure, and is always very stressed and exhausted. She must care for Makoto, almost putting her in a single mother's role. Her father's ideals, who died in the line of duty, is her sore spot. She resents him for throwing his life away in the name of justice, to the point that when Makoto asks her about her opinion on whether he would think the Phantom Thieves of Hearts can help, but, she snaps and says a bunch of cruel things that she also regretted, up to the point that she views Makoto as a burden.



Takuto Maruki:

>This is Takuto Maruki, a new character in Persona 5: Royal, his is a therapist. During his past, the entire family of Takuto's ex-girlfriend, Rumi was murdered, leading her to fall into a catatonic depression. This motivated his research of cognitive pscience so he could help. When he was in extreme grief, he manifested a Persona and made a deal with it. After the deal is made, Rumi fully recovered from her depression, but has also got her memories shuffled and consequentially forgotten about him completely. As to not remind Rumi of her grief, Takuto cut his ties with her. Eventually, his research reveals that use of cognitive psience might be dangerous. While at first terrified, he continues to use his cognition warping powers from his Persona to assist people and make a better world and opened a clinic, eventually using his power on a girl known as Sumire Yoshizawa, gaining an understanding that she lost her sister Kasumi and wished to live as her, transforming Sumire into Kasumi via his cognition manipulating powers as she requested him to do so.



Antagonist:

Masayoshi Shido:

>This is Masayoshi Shido, the main antagonist of the game. Appearing to the world as a powerful, highly charismatic and confident politician, he is in really the leader of a grand conspiracy that secretly controls all of Tokyo. He is a profoundly selfish, egotistical, and arrogant man with a savior complex. he is utterly self-assured of his fundamental righteousness, believing that the Conspiracy is able to get away with its crimes without the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and their supernatural interference, combined with his own knowledge of the Metaverse, is a sign that he is favored by God. He despises anyone who dare tries to stop him from all of his desires, no matter how fleeting. He is also quite litigious, threatening to sue anyone who irritates him and has no qualms with blackmailing even the police into keeping their mouths shut. However, in spite of all the heinous things that he has done privately, he does make a good attempt in giving himself a public image and thus the public is completely oblivious to his true personality, as they only see him as a revolutionary politician that he pretends to be. His is also the adoptive father of Goro Akechi and the one who gave the protagonist his one year of probation.
